The GLOW That Changes Everything
Evanescent Field is a monumental light sculpture by internationally renowned artist Leo Villareal, designed to transform the entire exterior of the Figge Art Museum into a dynamic work of art. With over 5,000 linear feet of color-changing LED lights and custom-coded light sequences, the work will envelop the museum in flowing patterns of color that respond to the Mississippi River, the city skyline, and even the passage of time. Visible from miles away, the work will be in constant motion—never repeating the same pattern twice and inviting wonder, reflection, and conversation every time the sun goes down.
Evanescent Field is a once-in-a-century gift to the community we love. This permanent public artwork fulfills the long-held dream to illuminate the museum's landmark glass building and marks 100 years of bringing art and people together. Thanks to generous support from the State of Iowa, local donors, and our community, the museum will now glow every night, free for all to enjoy.

Evanescent Field is a reminder that art belongs to everyone, and that investing in creativity makes our cities stronger, smarter, and more connected.
Evanescent Field will be a new cultural landmark for the Midwest. Created by the artist behind San Francisco's Bay Lights and London's Illuminated River, Evanescent Field will put Davenport—and the Quad Cities—on the national map for contemporary and public art. Evanescent Field will be the largest public art installation in Iowa and one of the most ambitious light-based artworks in the Midwest. It will enhance downtown Davenport's identity as a destination for innovation, arts, and culture while attracting visitors, attention, and creative energy to the region. It's a new landmark for the Midwest—made for the Quad Cities.

The Figge's Official Public Party

Glow where you want—inside the museum or out on the Plaza. The Free Public Party kicks off at 7:00 p.m. with an indoor/outdoor party. Enjoy free admission to the Figge's galleries until 8:30 p.m. Explore the exhibitions, dance to a live DJ in the lobby, and capture the moment in a photobooth.
Outside, the celebration continues until 10:00 p.m. Join us on the plaza for live music and entertainment, food vendors, a community art project, and more! At 8:45 p.m., experience the unveiling of Evanescent Field—a once-in-a-century moment as the Figge becomes the Midwest's newest landmark of light.

Glow into the Night with the Figge's After Party
Saturday, May 17 | 10PM - 12AM
Dress in your brightest neon and get ready to shine with glow sticks, glowing cocktails, DJ Clife, and a photo booth to capture the moment. Whether you're dancing, celebrating, or just soaking in the glow, this is a party you don't want to miss.
Tickets are $25 and include admission plus one glow cocktail. Save $5 when you buy online by Thursday, May 15, using the code GLOW at checkout. Tickets will also be available at the door—but quantities may be limited, so grab yours early.

GLOW UP is the Figge's free public watch party from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17. There is no cost to attend.
Downtown Davenport offers plenty of parking options for GLOW UP attendees. While parking on the Figge's plaza will not be available due to the public celebration, there are numerous nearby options, including surface lots along River Drive and multiple parking ramps and garages throughout downtown. We've highlighted these convenient locations on the event map above.
The glow must go on! GLOW UP will happen rain or shine. If the weather doesn't cooperate, we'll move the festivities indoors—so come ready to celebrate either way.
Yes! Enjoy a variety of options from local food trucks parked along the plaza. Drinks will be available for purchase from the Figge Bar, located inside the museum and on the plaza. Please note: The Figge Bar is cashless and accepts only card.
If you plan to explore the galleries or join the indoor festivities, please note that the museum follows its regular visitor guidelines for bags and personal items. For the safety of the artwork and comfort of all guests:
Backpacks, oversized bags (larger than 10" x 10" x 5.5"), tote bags, and wagons are not allowed in the galleries
Diaper bags are permitted if stored under a stroller
No food or drinks, including water bottles and sippy cups, are allowed inside the gallery spaces
Medical bags and equipment are welcome—please ask for a green tag at the front desk or 1st floor host station to identify them
Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all times
For your convenience, free lockers are available on the 1st floor to store any restricted items during your visit.
